The Eyes Of A Child
Looking into your child’s eyes and seeing pain and hurt is one of the most horrible things for a parent. Looking for solutions in a world that doesn’t understand is heartbreaking. Having no one in the world understand you are not a bad parent, simply a parent alone in the same little world your child is eternally stuck within.
One of the biggest things you need as a parent of a special needs child is support. Many third world countries understand that it takes a village to raise a child, yet in the western world and the “civilized” world we are often expected to take care of these children all alone, isolated and unsure on how to proceed.
So seek the support, find a local Autism suport group or join a community online. We ask for parenting assistance and get our questions answered regularly in regards to “normal” parenting issues, so we shouldn’t we seek the same for our special little ones. Why would we not look for the same answers and reassurances for issues that arise around autism?
Go out and get the help…get the support, don’t lock yourself into the same little world your child is locked in…seek your own keys so that maybe one day you can help them come outside their autistic world.
